Learning for Sustainability Conference

Keynote: Peter Hutton

Peter Hutton is the Director of the Future Schools Alliance and Past Principal of Templestowe College. Peter’s strength is transformational insight and HOW to implement change in schools. Peter was appointed Principal of Templestowe College in 2009. It was a “broken” school with just 286 local students and 23 Year 7s. Today, Templestowe College has over 1,150 students and has recently been recognised as one of the most innovative schools in the world.

Afternoon Masterclass

The renowned Jason Clarke will be sharing the ‘Secrets of the Dark Side’ in this afternoon Master Class. Having worked in advertising for many years, Jason will share key insights into ways of marketing ideas to be inclusive of the whole school or early years community. As founder of Minds at Work, he’s been helping people ‘think again’ since the end of the last century, working with clients across Australia in virtually every industry and government sector on issues ranging from creativity and trouble shooting to culture change and leadership.

  • It’s Seasonal – What’s with our Weather? (Primary and Early Childhood), Lisa Moloney – Whitehorse City Council
  • Talking with Children about Climate Change, Dr Susie Burke – Environmental Psychologist
  • Teaching sustainability through a kitchen garden program, Luke Newhouse – Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation
  • The Cost of Waste, Lona Parry and Clare Nolan – So-Eco for Schools

Concurrent Session 3 – 12:20pm to 1:05pm

  • It’s Seasonal – What’s with our Weather? (Upper Primary and Secondary), Lisa Moloney – Whitehorse City Council
  • Talking with Children about Climate Change, Dr Susie Burke – Environmental Psychologist
  • Food Waste Recycling, Ellen Regos – Cultivating Communities
  • Recycling with Mondo, Alexis Todorovski – SCRGroup

Morning tea and lunch are both provided as part of this event. A certificate of attendance will be sent out after the conference as recognition of the professional development undertaken on the day.
